The Bridge is a human service agency that provides counseling services to people facing challenges. This DMH-funded program provides supported housing services to Southbridge area adults living with serious and persistent mental illness residing in their own apartments. Individuals are provided support based on their level of need. Services may range from assistance with grocery shopping to crisis intervention. This program offers Illness Management and Recovery (IMR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Peer Support and Supported Employment as the treatment options.


The Peer Outreach Counselor functions as a fully integrated team member to provide expertise about the recovery process and symptom management to DMH-referred adults with emotional and behavioral difficulties. S/he collaborates to promote a team culture that recognizes, understands, and respects each client’s point of view, experiences, and preferences. This is a full-time position.


  • Candidate must be or have been a recipient of mental health services for severe and persistent mental illness and be able to use and share this experience to benefit the team and individuals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Social Services/Human Services related field preferred.
  • Experience working with young adults living with mental health challenges.
  • Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • Must be 20 years of age. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word.
  • First Aid, CPR, and MAP (Medication Administration Program) certified or certifiable.
